Valentine Creation
by Judy on 2/6/2008 6:20:51 PM

In Loving Color-$400 SOLD!
Valentine's Day is around the corner. Therefore, I decided to create my first Valentine oil paintings. Small one sold before I could get it framed. The larger one will be on public display at Boerne Visitors Center. Last week I asked a gallery co-worker if she had any PR contacts for my work to be displayed. She made a phone call and arranged for me to stop by and introduce myself. Thursday I deliver the work. I will post the painting on blog tomorrow.  Prints will be available.  Do you create holiday art?

For more than a century, the makers of NECCO Sweethearts Conversation Hearts have come up with some of the sweetest ways of saying "I love you." Every Valentine's Day the company presents new messages on the tiny colored hearts that have been a holiday tradition since the Civil War.

The Road Less Traveled
by on 2/5/2008 6:05:49 PM

"A Different Perspective"

At a early age I knew and wanted "TOBE" a full time artist. However college, a drafting career, raising a family, going back to college, and becoming a successful educator kept the "TOBE An Artist" at bay. In 1992 I enrolled in art classes and my creativity flourished. I knew I was meeting my artist once again.

Four years ago two friends and I were midway through Julia Cameron's book "The Artist's Way." I made a commitment to myself in the presence of my friends I would be painting full time in 5 years. At that three year mark, I was teaching school age children full time and painting commission work on the weekends. When tragically I was involved in a motor vehicle accident which caused me to leave my job permanently.

During the healing period God gave me some hopeful wisdom. Life was not ending but beginning. 2006 the fork in the road was before me. I also chose the road less traveled. March 2007 I started painting full time forty-four years later.

The "Road Less Traveled" sadly for many leave their dream behind never "TOBE" traveled.

The Final Varnish
by Judy Payne-Korge on 2/5/2008 5:22:53 PM

This is my first attempt to blog. any comments?

Fellow Creators,
I started varnishing paintings for my customers several years ago. It does kept me in the for front with my customers. It allows me the opportunity to update them about my art in "First Person."
Here is what I do:
Once commission art work is completed I ask for their contract. At the bottom of contract I write a varnishing date. Also, I verbally tell them I will varnish the painting on that date. A clear envelope or zipper-lock bag I provided and the contract is placed inside; with several business cards. I ask them to attach the bag to the back of artwork for safe keeping once framed. Also I keep a copy of their contract in a "to be varnished" file. Six months later I follow-up.

Varnishing for protection and customer follow-up, a must for me. Your article encourages me to do the same for customers who buy from our gallery. Thanks Clint!

Artfully,
Judy Korge
